
I work with individuals who are going through a change in their life (promotion, retirement, marriage, birth of child, divorce, new job, etc) and organizations that are undergoing a change in the workplace (instituting new values, reorganization, shifting from office environment to virtual, etc.). The key to change is understanding the relationship between change and transition. Change is the external event (birth, death, retirement, Whole Foods no longer carries your favorite olives) and the transition is the internal reorganization you go through as a result of the change. The internal impact of the change is directly proportional to the amount of change. A 1 foot storm surge during a Noreaster, not much in your life changes. A 20 foot storm surge, a lot changes.
