Mike has had a lot of jobs over the last 30 years; executive speechwriter, backpacking guide, Air Force officer, farm worker, project manager, event planner, improv teacher and performer, tour guide, and now leadership coach and facilitator. Mike's been practicing leadership and coaching ever since he became a patrol leader of 10 other Boy Scouts at the age of 13. He's an Eagle Scout.
He served 14 years in the Active Duty (full-time) Air Force. During his initial foray into civilian life, Mike took a whole bunch of jobs. When he started getting offers to be a product tester spraying customers with Justin Bieber's new scent as they walked into Macy's (this actually happened), he knew it was time to get serious about a new career and found his way to leadership coaching. Not wanting to give up access to the inexpensive haircuts, he continued in the Air Force Reserve (part-time), retiring in 2019.
Mike has a wall of credentials if you are into that sort of thing. He's a certified Master Somatic Coach from the Strozzi Institute, Associate Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation, Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University, Certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) administrator, has two Masters Degrees in Project Management and Strategic Intelligence, and is a graduate of two improv training programs. To add one more to the list, he's currently pursuing a PhD at the California Institute of Integral Studies. And if you need a minister, he is ordained and credentialed with the Universal Life Church.
Other people and organizations think enough of Mike that they paid him for coaching and facilitation work. He has coached executives and led workshops at the American Red Cross, Department of Homeland Security, National Trust for Historic Preservation, IMF, HQ US Air Force, Air Force CIO, Dun and Bradstreet, National Intelligence University, Georgetown University, Gallaudet University, and California Institute of Integral Studies. One of his most impactful engagements was creating a year-long series of improv workshops at the Pentagon to increase collaboration and build new leadership competencies with the 150-person HQ Air Force CIO team. His former nemesis was a participant and even she enjoyed doing improv and got something out of it.
His little nephews think he's amazing and he has won the Best Uncle Mike (of one) of the Year Award for 9 years running. With his outdoor, leadership, and coaching skills, he has been selected by several friends to be on their apocalypse teams should the world completely go to hell one day.
